Statement | Irrigation Blanket
My vision of Utopia is one where we live in harmony with the planet, a harmony that is hard-earned through the difficult lessons we are learning now about how interconnected we are with all the complexities of our planet’s ecosystem. It is only through learning a deep respect and practicing reverence for these forces on a daily basis, that we can make good long-term decisions for our planet. My work in this show focuses on the forces of fire, land, and water and looks to past cultures who practiced this form of reverence to help us envision a future where we can worship and respect the Earth’s body as much as our own.

Statement
"Having grown up around the natural beauty of Santa Barbara, and also in a community where technology and computers were so revered (at least in my direct sphere), the focus of my art seems to have fallen somewhere in the middle of these two extremes, exploring that place where nature and technology meet, celebrating that juncture while also critiquing it and bringing into question the necessity and purpose of many of man's inventions." –Christy Kovacs

She currently lives and works in Oakland, California working in a variety of mediums ranging from woven photographs to other experimental applications of photography, and painting.
